Once Upon A Time // 2x03 Lady of The Lake
Favourite Moments

1 - And just to remind me why I love Little Red Riding Hood so much; she rushes in from scouting the area, tells the war counsel what’s what, slaps down Charming for the ill thought out description with the simple raise of an eyebrow. She is awesome.

2 - I have been waiting for this storyline to start since Snow looked across the lake to King George’s castle and said ‘let’s take back the kingdom’. When Charming woke Snow from her enchanted sleep it seemed that their story had come full circle, but with that line she reminded me that there is a realm for them to rule and two monarchs standing in their way. And I’m really looking forward to watching it unfold.

3 - Lancelot, it is so very good to meet you. He was everything he should be; even when it appeared that he wasn’t you somehow knew that he was noble, honorable and brave. I was devastated at the end when we found out what had happened to him… just one more reason to hate Cora, in that love to hate her way that I have.

4 - I’m not going to say anything about Henry’s scheming, except this: he has just lost someone that he loves and will go to any lengths to find a way to bring that person back, he must have learnt that from somewhere. Also he is so used to having to lie to Regina to do what he feels he must that it never occurred to him that he could have walked right into her office and told her to get her keys because he wanted to see the vault. Regina probably would have grabbed her handbag and asked him if he wanted to walk or drive to the grave yard.

(Additionally this scene made me wonder whether we will ever see the Mayor’s office again, and if we do will it still look like this. That thought made me sad.)

5 - Oh Charming, you know how to handle your sword and turn greater numbers to your own advantage. You knew from the moment they surrounded him that Charming was going to be standing in the middle of all of their fallen bodies.

6 - How is it that even though we know that Snow and Charming go on to have Emma that this scene still managed to break my heart? And the answer would be Ginny Goodwin, she gave us all of the loss and heartache from her soul when that pendant stayed still over her palm.

7 - Ruth, Charming’s mother, was probably one of my favourite guest characters of the first season and I was so happy to see her return. I should have been prepared for her death when I remembered that she wasn’t at the wedding in the first episode but I still shed a tear when she died. But the moments that she shared with Snow during the two days that they spent together were precious. Ruth taught Snow the most important lesson about being a mother, putting the happiness and safety of your child before your own, and she taught it well.

8 - I liked the scene of Henry in the crypt. From the beating of the hearts, to seeing the vipers again, to his pitiful and anguished confession that he wanted to be where he could ride horses and learn to fight with a sword.

9 - Again, we know that they will eventually be expecting Emma, but this moment still pulled at my heart. Snow terrified to reveal that she has been cursed to never be able to give Charming children and her elation when she realises that the curse has been broken and that she has a woman who she knew for less than two days to thank for her future.

10 - David/Charming continues to capture my heart with each episode. The relationship between he and Henry never fails to make me smile, even when Henry is cutting class. So while Snow is away with Emma, he continues to strengthen his bond with his grandson, and if he can’t bring Henry to the Enchanted Forest, he will bring the Enchanted Forest to Prince Henry.

Once Upon A Time // 2x02 We Are Both
Favourite Moments (Regina Mills/The ‘not so’ Evil Queen Edition)

1 - I’m really enjoying the dynamic and banter between Regina and Charming/David, both in this episode and in the previous one. The way that they snipe at each other about everything, from magic to childcare, and I don’t think either of them knows who actually comes out as the victor at the end of their encounters!

2 - You think I’m a bitch wait until you meet my mother. Never have the words seemed more appropriate than when ascribed to these two. Barbara and Lana are awesome together, that is all.

3 - I’ve seen it said all over tumblr this week but it stands to be repeated: everything that Regina is, all of the pain, anger, loneliness, desperation, ambition and grief were there in the words ‘I know who I am’.

4 - I desperately wish there could have been more storyline between Young Regina and Little Snow before the betrayal because I think Lana and Bailee work so well together, and they could have completely torn my heart out when the innocence of their connection was tainted by the broken promise. (I have enjoyed what the show has done, I think I just wanted extra angst!)

5 - Oh, a moment I have been waiting for since the beginning of the series, the first meeting of Rumplestiltskin and Regina. And a small confirmation of the theory I have had about the connection between them for almost as long. (Miller’s daughter, first born child, born with magic not gifted or stolen, life completely manipulated through grief and anger, the only person who could cast the curse.)

6 - Just pure awesomeness. The entrance, the taunting, catching the arrow, throwing the fireball, framed by flame. (Bonus favourite moments include the shock on Blue’s face and the smile on Henry’s.)

7 - Henry once again showing his bravery in standing up to Regina and putting himself between her and the town. But behind the slight madness in her eyes you can see the happiness.

8 - Okay, maybe this is just my inner geek speaking but I wanted to ask Regina if she even knew her son at this point. You can conjure anything from thin air and you chose a cupcake, she should have gone all out: Fantastic Four, first appearance of the Silver Surfer in mint condition! (I’d have stayed for issue #8 of Birds of Prey.) But this was the start of Regina realising that she really has become her mother.

9 - And back to the moment where she started along the path. Where you can see her making so many promises to herself that she won’t be like her mother, she won’t use magic to hurt people, she won’t become evil and it’s heartbreaking because we know she’s going to break every one of those promises.

10 - I just want this image to speak for itself. Lana was incredible, as she was for the entire episode, she played everything in these 42 minutes and she did all of it beautifully.

Once Upon A Time // 2x01 Broken
Favourite Moments

1 - For the first few minutes we thought we were watching the wrong episode. What were we doing in New York? Who was this guy? Why did he have a collection of old fashioned cameras? And clocks? and announcer microphones? A clue perhaps? But then the purple mist disappeared and revealed Charming and Snow clutching each other and I swear my heart skipped and my brain screamed ‘It’s back! They’re back!’ How does this show manage to grab hold of my fan girl heart so? I don’t know, but thank you!

2 - There wasn’t anything that I didn’t absolutely love about the Charmings family reunion. From Snow hesitantly reaching out and pulling Emma to her with tears streaming down her face. The myriad of emotions on Emma’s face, how she managed to be both the disbelieving adult and the hopeful child. Charming taking both of them into his arms the only time he has been able to do so since those few precious moments after Emma’s birth.

3 - Tears and tension broken by Henry speaking the word ‘Grandpa’ was brilliant. For the whole first season both Emma and Mary Margaret/Snow White were both aware of what they thought was Henry’s fantasy. Though Henry spoke of David as Charming, Henry never really pulled David into his universe until this moment. And it was perfect.

4 - The return of The Evil Queen. I refused to watch the sneak peak (I actually don’t watch any of them, I like to see everything in context, in the right place, with all the build-up and background, I know I’m weird!) Even from the promo (yes, I watch those) I knew that her powers were going to fail her, but also knew that even the thought of her having them back was enough to put terror into the hearts of the Storybrooke residents. Then nothing… oops! (Pressure to perform!)

5 - Even though we knew that the warrior riding with Phillip to rescue Aurora was Mulan and that she was indeed a woman, I still felt a thrill as she removed her helmet and swept back her hair. I like her, and I really like her armor!

6 - I’m glad that the show doesn’t seem to be shying away from the unresolved issues that the Charmings will face as a family. Snow and Charming being overjoyed to have Emma back in their lives, but knowing that they missed so much. Emma’s search for her parents finally at an end but now she has to deal with the resentment that all the searching kept at bay.

7 - Finally starting to see the resemblence between Snow and Emma! There’s that ‘do not jerk me around’ pose.

8 - This scene was amazing. Regina on the edge of losing herself to madness and magic, and then Henry appears and pulls her back from the brink. Henry is her everything but Regina is still important to Henry. Asking her to bring back Emma and Snow wasn’t just for him but because he wants Regina to prove that she can be a better person. (At least that’s what I hope, regardless both Lana and Jared was truly incredibel in this scene.)

9 - I love that Belle is going to continue to be the strong and adventurous spirit that we first met in the Enchanted Forest. At first she seemed to believe Rumplestiltskin without doubt that he could be honorable and not turn into the monster. But she proved to know him, knows that the monster always lurks beneath the surface and wants to stay and help him fight that part of himself. (I chose the shot of the cup because I adore the imagery of it.)

10 - That moment when you realised that everything you saw with Aurora and Mulan and Phillip in the Enchanted Forest wasn’t from the part but the present. But this image had me placing my hand to my heart because even unconscious Snow has a hold of Emma.
